Lower Higham Scarecrow Competition
[ Back to: Higham Parish Council ]

This brand new event ran for a week or so until Judging at noon on Sunday 21st September 2008. Entry forms were available from the Village Greengrocers, School Lane, Higham. People in the Lower Higham area made their very own scarecrow and set them up in some very intriguing poses. With a total of 24 official entries, the three judges had a hard time deciding which scarecrows were winners. Percy, Rebecca and Jane had to view them all and take into account originality, use of materials and how well the scarecrow was made.
There were three winners:-
ADULTS FIRST PRIZE (Superior Rosette and wine) - Sarah Mallet of Hope Terrace;
ADULTS RUNNERS UP (Marvelous Rosette and wine) - Sarah and Phil of Bull Lane;
CHILDREN FIRST PRIZE (Awesome Rosette and chocolates (sorry, no wine this time!)) - the Jordan-Hunter children of Michele Cottages.
Fiona and Linda, who had the great idea of launching this scarecrow competition, send their sincere thanks to the three judges and to all of the willing entrants. Congratulations to all the winners. Scroll down for photographs below.
